Back Links and Inbound Link Building Strategy

Building good quality Inbound Links is a great way to improve your sites visibility and ranking on the internet. Google decides how ‘important’ your website is by taking into account a number of factors, one of which is ‘how popular is your site?’.  This doesn’t mean how many visitors you receive, it means – how many people actually like your site enough to put a link from their site to yours (inbound link building).

There are many ways in which you can get links to your site, some are ethical and proper – others are not !  If you are promised hundreds of inbound links, practically overnight then I would steer clear.  Google will know that you’re trying to gain an unfair advantage over your competitors and it will penalise you for it.

The best way to get inbound link building to work is the proper way! get people to link to your site from theirs.  The second best method involves a lot of hard work(unless you’ve automated the process) which we can provide as an individual service on its own or incorporate it into an overall optimisation package.

An analogy for inbound link building and how Google judges it would be: To imagine your website as a shop.  You’ve just built it in the middle of a huge field(as big as the world) and it has no roads, paths or tracks leading to it or anywhere near it(no inbound links).  If someone else with a shop likes your shop they will create a path (a link) to your shop. If someone else with another shop decides they like your shop, then they will create a path(link) to your shop.  As this process increases, the paths become roads and then the roads become motorways.  Before you know it, you have a motorway right up to the door of your shop. Think of the traffic!!

Now, although this sounds simple enough, you don’t want people building roads or even motorways to your shop that come from ‘dodgey’ shops(link farms) somewhere else in the field. These roads don’t bring the type of visitors to your shop that are likely to buy from you, so although you may get tonnes of traffic it’s not the right kind traffic.

1. If you’re launching a new site, or new content, write an introduction and submit it to share sites like Digg, Reddit and Now Public.

I have been promoting websites for quite a substantial time now, ever since I realised that it was where the money was on the Internet. I have never really had a massive marketing allowance to play with, so I have always just used free ways to market my websites.

So if you are on a budget this type of marketing and promotional information may be for you. There is a variety of different methods which you can go ahead and try today, although take into consideration that promoting to the highest quality takes time.

1. Write keyword rich articles describing what it is about, and being positive about your product or website, maybe pointing out the benefits and key features of why they may be interested. Throw a few links in the package, and you got yourself some good traffic, to put it simply why I love this method, you have warmed them to you by reading your article summary, then if they like what they read there, they want in on the action, and want to know more, and click through. Magic of link-bait.

Always helps to submit these articles to a variety of different article directories, and another benefit is that they do most of the SEO for you and the more visible your article is, the more people will read of course.

And if other marketers/web-masters like what they read, they may put a link from there website to your information, free traffic stream right there!

2. Another great free way to drive traffic to your website is too simply join forums that are related to your niche. Set up your profile with them so that your signature link/banner will point back to your website or blog.

Or even sign up social book marking sites and post your links there. Although most of them don’t provide do-follow links, still you’ll get traffic from them. This type of promoting may not create loyal readers but it does give you buzz traffic, and this is a start.

3.  Participate in Google Groups and Yahoo Groups and have your signature link pointed back to your website or blog. If you influence peoples opinions and perception about something, by just replying about a subject, you are engaging a reader, and your half way there, most of the time people want to know more about you if they think you have something decent to say, they will click your signature.

4. List building has always been around ever since the beginning, opt in forms capturing prospects details and email addresses, a very effective way of marketing a business as you are focusing your time on people who are actually interested in your niche and want to know more!

5. My top places where I like to write articles include Squidoo, WordPress, Blogger.com, Ezine Articles. All of these websites are free and easy to use and you can write till your heart is content about your niche, but remember to have links pointed back to your website.

6. Exchanging your link with other relevant websites is a very popular thing to do for webmasters. This is great for long term traffic.

These are just a taster of a sea full of techniques on how to drive traffic, people have spent decades trying to find out the best ways and to get to the top, and some people just get lucky, are you lucky?
